About Localskills.ai
AI skills, localised for where you actually live.
Every country has its own retailers, banks, councils, laws, payroll quirks, and bureaucratic dead-ends. Off-the-shelf AI agents are impressively capable at general tasks and oddly unhelpful for the specific stuff that fills your week: chasing a refund, drafting a GST return, switching power providers, dealing with the council. The information they need is regional. The skills they run should be too.
Localskills.ai is the directory layer for that work. Skills here run in the AI coding assistants developers already use — Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Copilot, Windsurf — and are tagged with the country (and where useful, the region) they apply to.
Global platform, NZ-seeded content
We launched with deep New Zealand content because that's where we are. NZ is the showcase region, not an exclusivity claim. The architecture supports every ISO 3166-1 country from day one — the URL structure, the schema, the submission pipeline, the globe on the homepage. If you live in Australia, the UK, the US, Germany, Japan, or anywhere else and you have a skill worth sharing, submit it. It will appear alongside the NZ skills, no quota, no waitlist.
What a skill is
A skill is a folder of instructions, scripts, and metadata that teaches an AI agent how to do a specific regional task — for example, "process a Woolworths NZ refund under the Consumer Guarantees Act". It's plain markdown, plain code, and an open licence. No SDKs, no hosted runtime — the skill ships into your agent and runs with the permissions you grant.
We require explicit declaration of what each skill touches — network endpoints, file-system scope, shell commands. Every skill page on this site shows those permissions prominently. Skills are reviewed before they're indexed.
